Mills CNC, the exclusive distributor of Doosan machine tools in the UK and Ireland has reported the "best third quarter sales results in the company's 37 year history".
The July - September quarter saw Mills deliver 75 new Doosan machines to customers, and take orders for 95 machines.
"This performance means that, with the last quarter still to go, our target of 300 machines delivered by the end of the year is within reach," according to managing director, Nick Frampton.
Doosan Lynx 2- and 3-axis lathes feature prominently in the sales figures boosted by the arrival of the new 300-series, which was launched at MACH. Similarly, sales of Doosan vertical machining centres (the DNM range equipped with either Fanuc or Heidenhain Controls, and the larger Mynx-series of machines), were, says Mr Frampton "particularly encouraging".
Perhaps the most impressive statistic from Mills' third quarter results is the sales of its new range of Puma 8, 10 and 12 in chuck lathes - the Puma 2100, Puma 2600 and Puma 3100 machines which, having been showcased at MACH for the first time, accounted for 15 per cent of the sales total.
"Our strategy of not reducing our headcount over the last two years and our continued investment in new systems means we are entering this final quarter on the front foot with a good stock of machines available for fast delivery," concluded Mr Frampton.
