Martyn’s return adds strength to XYZ Machine Tools’ sales team

XYZ Machine Tools has appointed Martyn Jones to the position of area sales manager.

Martyn is making a return to XYZ Machine Tools after a 12 month break, during which he continued his excellent track record of selling machine tools.

However, a chance encounter highlighted the opportunity to return to XYZ Machine Tools and he grabbed it with both hands having recognised that making the sale was just part of the overall picture and that he was missing the greater involvement and autonomy that he had.

“Basically, I came back to XYZ Machine Tools as I missed working with the team there, not only that, but I forgot how fulfilling it was to work with a customer from initial enquiry, completing the demonstration myself in many cases and getting involved with training the new customer when required. All of this gets you close to the customer and strong relationships are the result,” said Jones.

The diversity of the XYZ Machine Tools customer base was also something that was hard to replace and he added: “It is nice waking up and every day being different, at XYZ I can be visiting a one-man-band, through to Tier One sub-contractors and Blue Chip companies and anywhere in between, which provides its own challenges.”

Martyn is now responsible for sales of XYZ Machine Tools’ range in the Coventry (CV postcode), which he looked after previously, with the rest of his sales territory falling to the south of this and covering Hemel Hempstead (HP), Milton Keynes (MK), Oxford (OX) and Reading (RG).

“Martyn was consistently in the top three salesmen at XYZ Machine Tools, so we were very sorry to lose him 12 months ago. It is a pleasure to welcome him back, and he will add considerable value to our sales team particularly at a time when business is growing strongly, with sales back at pre-pandemic levels. As another colleague commented… It seems no one can stay away from you for too long,” said Nigel Atherton, managing director, XYZ Machine Tools.
