Mapal offers innovative end mill solutions

Mapal claims its innovative OptiMill range of solid-carbide end mill cutters will deliver maximum performance, life and economy in a particular application whether that application is routine or unusual.

This completely new range not only includes universal cutters, but also application-specific cutters that have been expressly developed to meet the needs of users with more specialised requirements. A highlights of Mapal's range is the groundbreaking OptiMill HPC cutter. This has unequal cutting pitch and lead, which allow it to combine very smooth running with large cutting volume, process reliability and low machine load, even with high machining values. When using HPC cutters, plunging and ramping processes are also enhanced by the large chip space at the end of the grooves. OptiMill cutters are available in versions for use with steel, cast iron, aluminium and stainless steel, as well as for hard milling and chamfering. Examples of specialised cutters available as standard within the range include types with internal cooling and for milling materials with hardness up to 65 HRc. All types feature special cutting edge geometry optimised for the type of material to be machined. To further enhance their performance in even the toughest of operating conditions, the cutters incorporate novel substrate/coating combinations. In addition to standard cutters, the extensive OptiMill range also features rough and finishing cutters, which save time by allowing roughing and finishing to be performed in a single operation, and radius cutters, which are particularly suitable for copy milling.
