Manufacturing Industry Awards entries invited, but deadline looms

Entries for the Manufacturing Technologies Association's (MTA) Manufacturing Industry Awards are now open, but will close on 15 January.

Launched by the MTA in partnership with other Trade Associations and Lloyds Banking Group, Commercial, the Awards will highlight and celebrate successes from across the world of engineering based manufacturing. The online entry form is live now at www.mtaawards.com and shortlisted entries will be judged by the industry through an online voting system open to the public later in January. Winners will be announced at a black-tie Award Ceremony on 9 March 2011. The Award categories, and the sponsoring associations, are; [] Young Engineer of the Year, sponsored by the Engineering Industries Association (EIA) [] Drive for Sustainable Manufacturing, sponsored by the Confederation of British Metalforming (CBM) [] Best Training Scheme, sponsored by the Gauge and Tool Makers Association (GTMA) [] Best Supplier Partnership, sponsored by the British Gear Association (BGA) [] Most Dynamic Sub-contractor, sponsored by the British Turned Parts Manufacturers Association (BTMA) There is also a special scholarship award – the AMTRI Scholarship – a £10,000 fund intended to promote excellence in machinery development and engineering manufacturing. The Scholarship, open to professional and graduate engineers undertaking Continuous Professional Development, aims to encourage co-operation between industry and the higher education sector. The Award ceremony will be celebrated during the MTA's Annual Dinner and will be staged at the ICC Birmingham on 9 March 2011. The black-tie, three-course dinner, with entertainment, will be a key event in the manufacturing calendar for 2011 and will attract hundreds of colleagues from the sector.
