1 min read

Third Dimension, creator of the GapGun range of profile measurement systems, will launch the latest version of its GapGun software - SPC3d Version 7 - for both PC and onboard processing on Stand 5915, Hall 5 at MACH 2014 (7-11 April, Birmingham NEC).

This latest release offers a wide range of improvements, including enhanced capabilities such as the ability to measure up to 10 different dimensions simultaneously (previously it was up to 3), with no loss of performance, along with an improvement in speed of up to 50%. The all-new interface of the software now includes easy-to-review measurement features, meaning that operators on the shopfloor are able to immediately see how measurement performance appears against tolerance, reducing training time and ensuring that quality problems can be identified much more quickly. This is combined with a flexible data input and output interface that allows integrators and administrators to access data quickly and easily in a huge variety of industry standard formats. Algorithms have been further improved, meaning that GapGun's "world-leading measurement capability" is dramatically improved. What's more, SPC3d7 introduces the ability to seamlessly roam or connect to a PC for automatic download, with no user intervention, for additional flexibility. In addition to Third Dimension's handheld range of products, GapGun Robot+ systems also benefit from the new software. All systems have introduced new live measurement mode, which allows measurements to be seen in real time as data is collected. This brings new functionality, reduces robot integration time and provides useful immediate data feedback. Says chief business development officer John Kane:"SPC3d has always been designed to help our customers gain the most they can from their GapGun systems, but this latest version surpasses anything we have released previously. Not only is it easy to use, but it also allows more measurement capability, has greater functionality and operates faster than ever before." In addition to being installed on systems shipped from April, SPC3d7 will also be available to users of the GapGun+ range as a software upgrade.
