A1 Technologies will exhibit its full portfolio of low-cost 3D digital technologies within the Education & Training Zone. With the price of additive manufacturing technology the greatest barrier to adoption of the technology, A1 aims to offer cost-effective solutions.

At £795, the RapMan 3D printer is supplied with everything needed to assemble and run the equipment, including software to slice a .stl file and convert it into the G code read by the RapMan machine. The BfB 3000 3D printer is available from £1,995, and exhibits a highly rigid, durable frame that offers excellent mechanical stiffness, increased Z-axis speed and accuracy, improved ultra-compact extruders, and controlled, precise material delivery. Both 3D printers extrude a number of different polymers, including ABS and PLA. PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) is a biopolymer and thus biodegradable. The Chameleon 3D 'haptic' application is an immersive 3D design system that employs a touch-enabling (haptic) device in conjunction with 3D modelling software, available for £495. Completed models can be directly printed on the RapMan and BfB 3000 3D printers. The 3D DAVID-laserscanner is a contact-free 3D object scanning system. The starter kit, for £320, contains a hand-held laser and camera with processing software. A modular machine construction system, UNIMAT, is particularly suited for model making, design and prototyping. Prices for the basic module start at £199 (or even £99 at primary school level), and the system has been designed with modularity and safety in mind.
