Location-aware manufacturing now within the Manufacturing Technology Centre's sights

Ubisense's Smart Factory solutions will be installed at the MTC's facilities at Coventry to demonstrate how precise real time location systems improve manufacturing processes: from automated product location and identification, tool control, error proofing, line side supply through to complete process visualisation. "The scope of applications in manufacturing is enormous", says Clive Hickman, CEO of the MTC. "MTC partners will now be able to see first-hand the way in which location-aware solutions dramatically improve manufacturing and production operations. Partners will be able to test and discover how Ubisense location products can be simply installed into their own factories without risk." Ubisense location-aware Smart Factory solutions are in use in a wide range of manufacturers worldwide and are widely adopted in the automotive sector, where the principles of lean manufacturing first originated. Customers include Aston Martin, Airbus, BAE, BMW, Cummins, Daimler, Eurocopter, Fiat, General Motors, Honda, Toyota and Volkswagen.
