Workholding and machining equipment supplier Kitagawa Europe is targeting major export growth with the establishment of a new sales organisation in India.

Building on the company’s 15-year track record of success in the Indian domestic market, the new operation – a wholly owned subsidiary of Kitagawa Europe – has already established a strong presence in country since the opening of its headquarters in Pune and first regional office in Chennai. “We offer the full range of Kitagawa advanced chucking and workholding solutions and already plan to open two further offices in Bangalore and Delhi within the next few months – to provide a comprehensive technical sales and applications engineering support service to customers nationwide,” said Kitagawa sales director Colin Birch. “India is building a reputation for top quality products as well as cost-effective manufacturing. What’s more, it is becoming increasingly sophisticated, with the automotive sector in particular, driving many organisations to look for new ways of maximising their competitiveness. “The speed, accuracy and productivity of our systems, backed by our technical design facilities in Pune, enable us to create and supply sophisticated customised chuck and workholding solutions that are tailored to individual customer requirements.” The company’s experience of servicing the Indian machine tool and manufacturing sector for the past 15 years has already paid dividends, with the securing of a recent order for 100 rotary tables from one of the country’s leading automotive OEMs. “This success is indicative of our rapidly expanding Indian customer base, which now includes high profile manufacturing organisations such as Honda and Suzuki,” added Mr Birch. “I am therefore confident of building on the strong foundation we have established in the region and that India will quickly become one of Kitagawa’s most important and fastest growing export markets.”
