John Hyde Engineering, a subcontract machinist specialising in machined ferrous castings, located in Stoke on Trent, has placed an order for the first Liberty CMM from Wenzel UK in Gloucester, featuring Renishaw's 5-axis PH20 probe head .

The Wenzel Liberty CMM is the fusion of the new Renishaw PH20 probe head (pictured) with UCC2 controller and Metromec QUARTIS software. The PH20 is a full 5-axis probe system with infinite positioning. John Hyde Engineering selected the PH20 probe system, due to its flexibility in approach, speed of probing, speed of calibration, and accuracy. The CMM will, in the first instance, be used to measure two new high precision parts from a major customer, where accuracy and speed will be paramount. "We chose the Liberty CMM from Wenzel with PH20 for several compelling reasons, amongst which are its accuracy, its availability with the new Renishaw PH20 probe, the power and speed of the Metromec Quartis software, and the compact footprint for such a large measuring range," explained John Hyde, chairman of John Hyde Engineering. "The Renishaw UCC2 controller will allow us to upgrade to any new probing systems that become available from Renishaw."
