Metalworking fluids specialist Jemtech (UK) has signed up to be a member of the Manufacturing Technology Centre, Coventry - part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult - and will work with the organisation to deliver advanced productivity solutions for UK manufacturing businesses.

The Coventry-based Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) opened its doors in 2011, with the goal to work with world-class research partners and enable the transfer of cutting edge technologies into practical manufacturing processes. Its projects cover all aspects of manufacturing, from aircraft engines to automotive production, and to ensure that best practice is achieved, it is aligning itself with the world's leading manufacturers. With Jemtech (UK) as a member, the MTC will be able to make full use of the existing Blaser Swisslube range of metalcutting fluids, which are sold exclusively throughout the UK and Ireland by Jemtech. It will also have access to Blaser's research and development expertise to investigate specific issue surrounding the machining of particular materials/components, as part of ongoing research projects at the MTC. Blaser employs over 200 highly skilled employees, counting professors, doctors, chemists, laboratory technicians and production engineers, among their number, making it the largest research laboratory of its kind in Europe. Jemtech (UK)'s managing director, Steve Coull, says: "Working alongside the MTC and its members aligns our business with some of the leading manufacturing companies in the UK and is a fantastic opportunity for us to work alongside many forward-thinking engineering technology businesses. By partnering these businesses on projects at the MTC, we will be able to further develop the Blaser Swisslube products and provide superior solutions to manufacturing issues. A further major advantage for Jemtech is that this relationship with the MTC will raise our profile in the advanced manufacturing sector and allow our customers to see first-hand the superb facilities here and to benefit from the strategic role we will be playing in developing new manufacturing technologies, helping them to be more productive." The High Value Manufacturing Catapult brings together seven institutions of excellence across a broad range of sectors to support UK manufacturing in the commercialisation of cutting edge technologies.
