Heat-shrink tooling demo comes to you

1 min read

LMT (UK) is setting off on a series of mobile demonstration events, focusing on its Biltz heat-shrink tooling programme.

A series of nationwide, ‘On-Your-Doorstep’ demonstrations between 26 September and 9 November intends to highlight the advantages of higher accuracy and concentricity from spindle tooling, the reduction of vibration, improvements in surface finish, tool life and the extension of spindle bearing life by using inductive heating and shrinking. A special demonstration vehicle has been equipped with the company’s Bilz ThermoGrip inductive heating and shrinking units able to be used on cutting tool shanks between 3 mm and 50 mm diameter and the presentations will be accompanied with a tool presetting demonstration. As it visits different companies, it will be providing on-the-spot presentations on the effectiveness and increases in productivity that can be achieved and enable management and engineers from all levels to gain an appreciation of the benefits available without the inconvenience of travelling from their place of work. Inductive heating and shrinking provides a valuable advantage when using medium and high speed machining centres by creating a single fused unit between the cutting tool and the toolholder to within a concentricity of 0.003 mm. The Bilz system employs a patented counterbore allowing easy insertion of the tool and through a controlled local energy transfer from the high-frequency generator, protects the tool and clamping chuck while achieving fast heating and cooling. A schedule is currently being compiled. If you have a machining centres and would like to see the demonstration, call Bob Osborne, toolholding manager on 024 7636 9770 or email at bosborne@lmt-tools.com.
