The Haas Desktop Mill is billed as the ultimate training machine for schools and technical colleges. Controlled by a full-function Haas CNC control, the machine is the machine is portable and easily fits on to a desktop or rolling toolbox. Designed to cut plastics and machinable wax, the Desktop Mill has a 15,000 rpm spindle with ER11 collet. The working envelope measures 216 by 178 by 38 mm, making it suitable for teaching the basic principles of programming and operating a CNC mill. An optional CNC pen holder will also be available, which converts the Desktop Mill into a CNC plotter, for drawing and proofing tool paths.
Visitors to the Haas stand will be able to look inside all of the machines on display, seeing for themselves how they work and how they are constructed.
Among other machines on the stand, all of which will be performing live cutting demonstrations, is set to be the latest Haas UMC-500, a compact version of the company’s universal 5-axis machining centre.
