Haas sells out at MACH

Haas Automation had a successful MACH 2010, managing to sell every single machine on its stand, with the last machine being sold half an hour before the show closed.

"We were a bit sceptical about MACH this year," said managing director Nick Remington. "However, I'm over the moon with our results." The company's stand featured 12 machines, with debut appearances from a DT-1 drill and tap machine, the ST-20 and ST-30 turning centres and the latest 2010 vertical machining centres. All the machines could be seen performing metalcutting demonstrations at MACH, with 3 tonnes of material machined during the 5-day event. Mr Remington continued: "Having sold 60 machines in the 8 weeks leading up to the show, we were hesitant about the potential success at the exhibition itself. The attendance figures are reportedly down circa 18 per cent on MACH 2008, conversely our records show that we had an increase in footfall of more than 20 per cent on 2008, which saw us sell over 70 machines that month alone. The next few weeks are going to be busy for us, as we process the 1,200 leads generated by the show. "Our two new sales managers, Pete Malecki and Graham Cherry, only joined the company in the week prior to MACH, but each sold machines at the show, which is a great start to what will hopefully be long and successful careers with Haas. "Our stand was constantly busy throughout the show, and even though I had 31 staff manning our stand, we stuggled to cope with the level of interest shown in all our products. My only concern is that we missed some potential customers, due to how busy we were. However, we are looking at having an open house in July or August."
