More than 250 senior managers and executives from East Anglia’s engineering and manufacturing sector came together at EAME 2007 (Exhibition of Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering) at Hethel Engineering Centre near Norwich on 13 September to share best practice, showcase their expertise and celebrate key achievements.
EAME 2007 featured seminars, stands, exhibits and a networking forum as well as advice from the sector’s support organisations. Richard Bond, BBC Look East’s Business Correspondent, formally opened the new Haas Automation CNC machine tool showroom and training facility at the Centre.
The new showroom houses a selection of Haas CNC machines, including a large frame VF-8 vertical, a Super Speed VF-4 SS vertical, a SL-10 lathe with barfeed and a number of Mini Mills, Toolroom Mills and Lathes. This new equipment is in addition to the Haas machinery already installed and in use by the Hethel Centre's busy engineering department. “Haas intends to offer the best service and support in the industry. Our investment in the new showroom and training facility will help ensure that we do just that,” said Pat Fenn, Haas technical director (pictured, right, with Richard Bond).
Delegates at the event were able to view examples of world-class engineering and manufacturing from the region, including Lotus sportscars and concept cars, a prototype electric Tesla Roadster, and a pre-production Mosler supercar.
Simon Coward, chief executive of Hethel Engineering Centre, said: “The long and diverse lists of exhibitors and delegates at EAME demonstrates not only the importance of the engineering and manufacturing sector to the region’s economy, but also the incredible world-class know-how that it has to offer.
“The exhibition was a great success and we have received some really positive feedback from those who attended. Outstanding efforts made by the team at Hethel and our partners made the day such a success. We are certainly looking forward to EAME 2008.”
