Industrial finishing equipment manufacturer Guyson International has created an informative 8-page brochure that highlights the company's range of finishing products for use in the aerospace sector, and is free to prospective customers.
Guyson provides a wide range of blast finishing, ultrasonic cleaning and spray washing equipment and makes a claim to be "a genuine world-wide player in the aerospace market", with operations in England, France, USA, Malaysia and China and a member of the North West Aerospace Alliance.
Comprehensive automated blast finishing provision is offered by the manufacturer, with Guyson providing accurate robotically-controlled blast systems, ideally suited to deliver fully automated shot peening and grit blasting of OEM aerospace turbine blades.
Conventional automated blast cabinets having single or multiple product holding spindles, or turntables for larger or heavier pieces, are designed to suit throughput volumes, and these are matched with static or traversing vertical and/or horizontal gun movements to obtain maximum component surface coverage. Longer parts can be blast finished with their automated in-line blast systems, the parts travelling through the blast and air-wash chambers allowing 360-degree surface coverage and incorporation into production lines.
Guyson also manufactures one of the largest ranges of manually-operated cabinets, including extra-large cabinets capable of bead blasting aero wing structures and landing gear, thus allowing surface finishing and MRO paint stripping operations to take place inside a well illuminated dust contained environment without the need to have operators with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) working in blast rooms.
In the lighter industrial cabinet ranges, desk-top blast cabinets equipped with a micro-tipped nozzle for precision aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) on turbine blade ventilation holes are available, together with blast cabinets with adjustable height facilities, offering greater operator comfort and productivity.
Automated 'Kerry' branded ultrasonic cleaning systems, manufactured at the firm's Skipton factory, comprise both solvent and aqueous multi-tank units, which can be used for a wide range of aero engineering and electronics cleaning. Both the Microclean and Microsolve cleaning systems operate most efficiently when fitted with Guyson Autotrans lifting and transfer systems to provide fully automatic operation.
Typical Kerry Microclean aqueous cleaning applications include removing polishing compounds from optical glass and plastic lenses, cleaning valve components, removing swarf and machining oil from hydraulic components and the cleaning, rinsing and drying of turbine blades prior to NDT penetrant testing.
Microsolve solvent cleaning equipment is regularly used for applications such as the precision cleaning of bearings, gyro components, connectors and interconnects, maintenance cleaning of aerospace power generation system components and cleaning pneumatic and hydraulic components. And in electronics, flux removal from PCBs, including no-clean and lead-free solder flux residues.
'Kerry' ultrasonic cleaning equipment includes ultrasonic baths and tanks ranging from 2 to 275 litres for a variety of aerospace precision cleaning and MRO operations. Customers with existing inefficient plating and cleaning tanks can also retrofit the Guyson KST ultrasonic block transducers to improve their performance.
The final range of products covered in the brochure is Guyson's aqueous spray wash equipment. For high volume component cleaning, users may choose the Guyson Marr-Line conveyorised spray wash systems. These provide a tailored solution for a range of washing, rinsing, drying and coating applications and the flexibility of the modular specification concept allows each system to be configured precisely, making them ideally suitable to incorporate into a modern cellular workflow environment.
With a smaller footprint, many aerospace manufacturing cells have incorporated the Guyson Orbit rotary basket washer into their workflow and these are often specified for degreasing flap actuation gears, cleaning landing gear and brakes in aerospace MRO operations and can also be used for the removal of general dirt and grime from both aluminium and steel aeronautical ground lighting (AGL) castings during maintenance, allowing them to be handled safely whilst being disassembled.
