Guyson International and ABB Robotics to push robotic surface blasting technology in Europe

The Skipton, North Yorkshire-based Guyson group has produced numerous advanced robotically controlled blast systems via its US subsidiary, Guyson Corporation of the USA. They have been developed for a range of industrial applications, including shot peening turbine blades and landing gear parts, and grit blasting oil field valves prior to thermal spraying. Guyson is now set to expand this activity to its European customer base from its UK headquarters. Jimmy Thomson, robot surface finishing support manager for Guyson, explained: "Many of our customers' components shapes and contours are becoming very complex, with critical blasted surface finishes that conventional automated blast system may not always be able to meet, so we intend to satisfy customer expectations with a range of ABB robotically controlled blast cabinets, manufactured in our UK factory." Guyson is extending an invitation for prospective robotic blast customers to get in touch for initial talks and demonstrations. Those involved in the aerospace, medical, thermal spray and oil and gas sectors that have components such as turbine blades, medical implants, industrial pumps, turbo chargers and aerospace MRO components are likely to be suitable candidates.
