Industrial finishing equipment manufacturer Guyson International is partnering with ABB Robotics in a strategic move to expand its robotically controlled surface blasting capabilities in Europe.

The Skipton, North Yorkshire-based Guyson group has produced numerous advanced robotically controlled blast systems via its US subsidiary, Guyson Corporation of the USA. They have been developed for a range of industrial applications, including shot peening turbine blades and landing gear parts, and grit blasting oil field valves prior to thermal spraying. Guyson is now set to expand this activity to its European customer base from its UK headquarters. Jimmy Thomson, robot surface finishing support manager for Guyson, explained: "Many of our customers' components shapes and contours are becoming very complex, with critical blasted surface finishes that conventional automated blast system may not always be able to meet, so we intend to satisfy customer expectations with a range of ABB robotically controlled blast cabinets, manufactured in our UK factory." Alan Spreckley, channel partner manager for ABB Robotics said: "Guyson is well-established in the industrial engineering sector, delivering good service across a range of industries. By working with Guyson, we can ensure that its customers get the most suitable robotic solutions for their needs, and provide the company with the opportunities to develop and expand its own brand of highly automated blast systems." Guyson is extending an invitation for prospective robotic blast customers to get in touch for initial talks and demonstrations. Those involved in the aerospace, medical, thermal spray and oil and gas sectors that have components such as turbine blades, medical implants, industrial pumps, turbo chargers and aerospace MRO components are likely to be suitable candidates.
