The GTMA will host its 'Manufacturing UK' event at Yamazaki Mazak's Worcester plant on Thursday, 9 May 2013 from 8.30 am till 3.30 pm.

Pointing to the recent investment news from Jaguar Land Rover, creating an additional 700 jobs at its new engine plant, the GTMA highlights the engineering successes already being enjoyed by UK-based manufacturing companies. These businesses have placed significant orders for tooling, precision machining and mould and die support with British precision engineering companies. Over 35 GTMA member companies will be exhibiting at the event, including toolmakers, rapid prototype and precision machining companies, as well as the all-important technical supporting services of leading metrology, software and cutting tool/workholding suppliers. Guest speakers confirmed for the event include John Rooney, operations director, Gardner Aerospace, and Michael Mychajluk, Jaguar Land Rover purchasing risk manager and Automotive Council UK Supply Chain Group member. Having worked in the automotive industry for 15 years, he currently leads the development of sustainable supply chain policy and procedures for the JLR purchasing function. In addition, Michael Mychajluk has taken leadership of the Automotive Council Supply Chain Access to Finance work stream. He will provide a synopsis on JLR's recent success fuelled by exports to fast growth markets, as well as providing an insight to the work of the Automotive Council. The Manufacturing UK event will be held in Mazak's new European Technical Centre, situated on the same Worcester site as its production facilities. Guided tours of the machine tool maker's production and assembly facilities will also be arranged on the day, with further opportunities to see demonstrations of all of the company's machine tools running in the Technical Centre. Lunch and light refreshments will also be included. Register at www.manufacturinguk.net
