Gibbs and Matsuura in CUBLEX-25 CAM development

CAM developer Gibbs and Associates and Japanese machine tool maker Matsuura have collaborated in the development of a version of GibbsCAM that supports Matsuura’s new CUBLEX-25.

As a result, GibbsCAM will be able to provide Matsuura customers a factory-approved post processor and machine simulation model that is specific to the CUBLEX-25. Matsuura’s CUBLEX-25 is a machining centre where turning and grinding functions are combined with 5-axis milling functions. Compared to a conventional lathe-based mill-turn, the CUBLEX-25 is based on a 5-axis machining centre allowing it to maintain 100 per cent milling performance. For turning operations, a unique mechanism is used to lock the spindle with a rotary table (c-axis) which is capable of high-speed (3,000 rpm) rotation. Additionally, grinding operations are possible through the simultaneous rotation of the spindle and rotary table. “The CUBLEX-25 represents a new range of products for Matsuura,” commented Katsutoshi Matsuura, executive vice president of Matsuura Machinery Corporation. “GibbsCAM’s ability to support the full-range of the CUBLEX-25’s capabilities while being extremely easy to use was very important to us. Working with Gibbs ensured that our customers realized the highest quality solution to support their CUBLEX-25 machining centres.” * Gibbs and Associates has completed developing 54 post processors for Mori Seiki’s entire NT product line. The post processor development cycle was significantly reduced as a result of the collaboration agreement announced one month ago for the purpose of improving GibbsCAM’s support of Mori Seiki’s machine tools, starting with accurate post processors.
