The very best in 3- to 5-axis machining centres, advanced mill-turning lathes and industrial cleaning machines will be promoted by Geo Kingsbury Machine Tools at Aero Engineering 2011, held at the Birmingham NEC from the 9 to 10 of November, with six machines promoted on the stand.

All six of Geo Kingsbury Machine Tools' principals, market leaders in their respective fields, are based in the technological powerhouse of Baden-Württemberg in southwest Germany. They are Index, Traub, Hermle, Zimmermann, SHW and Dürr, for which Geo Kingsbury acts as sole sales and service agent in the UK and in some cases, the Republic of Ireland as well. Index (www.index-werke.de) and its independent subsidiary, Traub, form one of the world's leading groups specialising in the manufacture of advanced mill-turning centres, including CNC multi-spindle automatics and sliding-headstock models. Manufacture of universal milling machines and gantry-type machining centres, with the accent very much on 5-axis models, is the specialism of Hermle (www.hermle.de). The largest machine is capable of processing workpieces weighing 2.5 tonnes and all machines are capable of producing parts to accuracies in the single-digit micron range. Portal machining centre manufacturer, F Zimmermann (www.f-zimmermann.com), builds 5-axis and 6-axis machines for producing large composite and aluminium components. The recently signed agency agreement allows Geo Kingsbury to increase its already significant presence in the aerospace industry with an expanded portfolio of production options for primes and their subcontract supply chain. SHW (www.shw-werkzeugmaschinen.de) offers prismatic machining centres, the smallest of which has a working envelope of 2.0 by 1.3 by 1.3 m, whilst the largest travelling-column machine has a 30-m X-axis and is powered by a 60 kW spindle. All models are normally supplied in a 5-axis configuration. Dürr Ecoclean (www.durr-ecoclean.com) is a major international supplier of integrated systems for industrial cleaning. The Ecoclean range is so extensive, encompassing aqueous, chlorinated hydrocarbon, non-halogenated hydrocarbon, polar and CO2 systems, that customers can be offered a system that exactly suits their needs.
