UK members of the Gauge and Toolmakers Association (GTMA) can apply for funding to put towards the National Physical Laboratory's (NPL) metrology training courses.
The funding for GMTA members is provided by The Tooling Trust. It has been designed to encourage companies with no more than 50 employees to develop their staff through NPL's metrology training courses.
NPL offers a Training Framework of dimensional measurement, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) and large volume metrology for the UK's manufacturing industry. The courses begin at foundation level and progress through to expert.
NPL's measurement training provides employees with an independently recognised industry qualification. Validated by the National Skills Academy for Manufacturing and EMTA Awards Ltd (EAL) accredited, the NPL Training Framework is a rubber-stamped skills development mechanism.
Benefits to the employer of this metrology training are evident by a noticeable reduction of scrap, less rework time, improved throughput and increased confidence in measurement results.
Tom Ashby, business development manager for training at NPL, said: "This is a great opportunity for smaller UK companies with tighter budgets to apply for funding and receive training that carries weight with their current and potential customers, who can be assured of an increased level of quality. We encourage companies and learners to make the most of the offer from the GMTA and The Tooling Trust and use it to improve their skills business processes."
