Mills CNC has appointed Jeff Hart as its training manager.

Mr Hart, previously training manager at Cambridge Numerical Controls since 2001, has worked closely with Mills over the last 8 years, on a contract basis, developing and delivering CNC programmer training courses to a significant percentage of Mills' machine tool customers. His appointment commences in August. "The rapid growth of Mills CNC new machine tool sales and our desire to offer our customers a comprehensive and professional after-sales service has created the demand for a full-time, in-house training manager," said Nick Frampton, managing director. "Jeff, with his extensive experience and knowledge of Fanuc CNC control systems, has a great reputation in the market, and these - plus an equally good understanding of our customers and the way we do things here at Mills – made him the obvious choice for the Training Manager position." As well as planning, coordinating and implementing Fanuc-based CNC programmer training, CNC applications and CNC service training courses for Mills customers – he will also be responsible for developing and marketing these training courses to the wider machine tool market. Said Mr Hart: "Mills has developed an unrivalled reputation in the market for both the quality of the machine tools its sells and the after-sales services it provides. While a significant proportion of Mills' training resources will continue to be directed at meeting the needs of our new machine tool customers – we will also be offering our CNC training courses to precision manufacturers who are looking to upgrade and/or refresh their CNC programming knowledge and skills, too." The training courses on offer include everything from basic Fanuc CNC operator/programming training (turning and milling), right through to more sophisticated C-axis, Y-axis, twin-spindle and twin-turret training courses (on the turning side), and 4th and 5th axis training (on the milling side). The company says that keen interest has also been shown in Mills' Fanuc Custom Macro B courses and training on CAM packages such as FeatureCam, FAPT and manual guide systems (for improving the capability and performance of multi-axis turning centres and mill-turn machines) will also be on offer.
