PSL's DataTrack software is used extensively within the manufacturing sector for the calculation of costs relating to manpower, machine utilisation, administration, factory overheads and materials. A recent exercise by PSL involved benchmarking the costs for a group of manufacturers after undertaking research on their behalf. The research found that the sub-contractors knew little about their fixed and variable costs, so were unable to make informed decisions when estimating to support quotes.
