Sliding-head tooling expert Floyd Automatic Tooling has expanded its sales team with the appointment of Daniel Pepper. He has joined the Baldock-based firm to strengthen the offered sales and technical engineering expertise.

The 26-year-old technical sales engineer joined Floyd Automatic in September. He has spent the majority of his fledgling career on the shopfloor, initially working as a manual machinist before progressing to a CNC programmer with a subcontract company.

Commenting upon the company’s presence at the recent Star GB and Citizen Machinery UK Open House events with the new employee, Floyd Automatic Tooling’s managing director, Richard Floyd says: “Both events were very well attended and Floyd Automatic is once again delighted to be supporting these technology partners. For us, it was another great opportunity to introduce our very latest innovations to the sliding-head market and demonstrate the benefits of both our extensive product lines and unique area of tooling expertise in this niche market segment.

“Some of the key technologies that really captured the imagination at the events were the Masa Microconic precision sub-spindle collet system that now supports working up to 32 mm diameter, the W&F Micro quick-change and pre-settable insert holders and two soon-to-be-available products, the Colibri Slim-Jet high speed coolant driven spindle and the new FLO-Tool Gol range of bronze-alloy guide bushes for difficult materials like titanium, which can ‘seize’. This bush also come with a longer bearing length. Ideal when producing long threads for example. This new Flo-Tool Gold can also be re-sized, offering greater flexibility.”

Adding his thoughts on both events, Pepper says: “What really hit-home for me was the expertise of the Floyd team and the vast array of solutions and product lines that are available. It was also insightful to see how well-respected and reputable Floyd Automatic is in the field. From a product perspective, it was great to meet the marketplace and discuss solutions on an Open House platform. One of the more prominent products that really drew interest is a new line of torque wrenches for clamping ER collet holders and nuts. From a personal perspective, I am delighted to join the Floyd team and look forward to the challenges ahead.”
