Ficep UK has been appointed sole UK agent for the Ernst range of edge treatment machines for components produced from plate.

Ernst, located in Eschelbronn near Heidelberg, Germany, is an acknowledged leader in edge treatment technology for sheet metal deburring machines, as well as for wood and lacquer sanding machines for the door and furniture industry. The company's machines have been proved to be up to seven times more efficient than old-fashioned grinding methods (including wide belt sanders) for deburring, precise edge rounding and oxide removal of laser-cut, punched, oxyfuel and plasma-cut sheet metal parts - even when there is component distortion. The flexible deburring drum rides on a cushion of air to remove material mainly from the area next to the edge by applying uniform grinding pressure to the inside and outside contours of the component. This system will also compensate for surface height variations of up to 6 mm; abrasive brush rollers are available for edge rounding to comply with CE standards. Powerful magnets securely hold components as small as a credit card to ensure a uniform finish and efficient dust extraction hoods enhance cleanliness and save energy. When compared to manual deburring, the Ernst range of machines is said to offer users a faster payback, higher productivity, lower labour costs with reduced abrasive consumption. Mark Jones, managing Director of Ficep UK, says: "As Ficep is already recognised as the world leader in the supply of CNC metal processing machinery for cutting, drilling and punching of plate, the Ernst range of edge treatment machines, in combination our own machinery range and our huge experience in application technology, allows us to offer end-to-end solutions that perfectly match the requirements of each individual customer. This is just one more way in which we are looking to make our customers even more productive, efficient and profitable."
