Factory extension for Heller Machine Tools

1 min read

Heller Machine Tools, Redditch is building a 35 per cent production extension to its factory.

An additional service road is being built to handle the increase in traffic and, while the services are being installed for the new production bay, “Bay 4”, services are also being installed for the next production area, Bay 5. The site was last extended at the end of 2003, just four years ago, when Bay 3 was added. The new extension will be operational from December 2007. “Heller prides itself on the service with which it provides customers, from pre-sale engineering assistance through to excellent training and post-installation service support. Part of that service is to deliver machines to customers in the shortest possible lead times, and to ensure we continue to do that we are investing in a substantial new extension," said managing director Geoff Lloyd. "The UK has long been recognised as the best facility for producing and supporting the Heller horizontal machining centres, with the MCi and MCH ranges built in Redditch for customers all over the world. This is a testament to the standard of engineering and levels of service which we have achieved. Demand for our machining centres world-wide is such that to maintain our short delivery times we have to increase production capacity - we have seen a continual year-on-year increase in sales throughout the last five years”. Heller builds horizontal machining centres, designs and manufactures fixtures, designs and project manages turnkey production systems, and undertakes pre-production prototyping on behalf of customers at its purpose-built Redditch plant. All the sub-assembly units are built in the UK plant including the columns, spindles, service units and tool magazines. Pre-production proto-typing, cutting trials and prove out are also completed in Redditch prior to machines being shipped from the site direct to the customer.
