The Engineering Technology Group has further expanded its programme of machine tool automation and loading/unloading products with the addition of pallet changers supplied by the Midaco Corporation.

Since adding Halter robot loaders to its portfolio, ETG has experienced interest in automation; to complement its turnkey design and installation expertise that comes with its dealership of Chiron, Hardinge Bridgeport, Stama, Nakamura Tome, Quaser and Handtmann machine tools, it has now added pallet-changing products.

Based in Chicago, USA, Midaco designs and manufactures automatic and manual pallet change systems, robot loaders and other accessories for the metalcutting sector. Its product range includes manual and automatic products that improve efficiency in all aspects of manufacturing including VMC, HMC, Drill/Tap and EDM machines.

Steve Brown, ETG’s product development manager comments: “Manufacturers are always looking for cost-effective methods of increasing productivity across their operations and pallet changers are an ideal solution to increase a machine's output.

“Not only is a pallet change system suited for high production jobs, but it also eliminates machine downtime on small batch turnovers. With the pallet change system the operator sets up and changes a pallet outside the machine without the machine sitting idle. A pre-programmed job can be ready to run in as little as 6.5 seconds - depending on the size of the system and load on the pallet.”

Midaco offers manual, automatic and robotic pallet systems, all of which are ideal for original equipment or retrofit installation.
