Through a co-operation with US software supplier TULIP, DMG Mori is simplifying the adoption of digital manufacturing for its SME customers. Thanks to the partnership, shop-floor personnel and engineers can easily create apps via a drag and drop interface and integrate them with existing systems. This no-code approach is designed with the needs of production lines in mind, enabling the collection and analysis of data in real time, without any programming know-how.

“We’re proud of our new alliance; after all, digitisation is human-centred,” says Christian Thönes, chairman at DMG Mori Aktiengesellschaft. “With the no-code platform, employees can autonomously create manufacturing apps. TULIP is the ideal entry into digitisation, mainly for SME customers.”

TULIP CEO Natan Linder adds: “Our products are very easy to understand and can be used by any production technician without help from the IT department. Anyone can quickly and intuitively develop apps and connect IoT devices and machines, supporting a range of production use cases with pre-built templates. DMG Mori offers a global footprint from which we benefit. The solution is especially suitable for SMEs, who represent a huge portion of the value chain yet lack in basic modern and accessible software solutions.”

Manufacturing apps increase transparency along the entire process chain. Thus, shop-floor workers can optimise each process, from production, through machine and quality monitoring, to service and training.

All of TULIP’s applications are said to be are user-friendly and straightforward. Data can be adapted and saved in real time, without the need for writing code. Unlike alternative manufacturing systems, which can sometimes be complex, time-consuming and costly, TULIP offers a flexible, open and agile solution. Companies can therefore adapt and scale their digital transformation efforts at their own pace.
