DMG Mori - key machines and the Porsche 919 Hybrid on show at MACH 2016 (stand 5610)

2 mins read

A line-up of 14 DMG Mori machines under power, including advanced additive manufacturing with the Lasertec 65 3D, five new apps for its CELOS CNC that are aimed at intelligent Industry 4.0 production, as well as the Porsche 919 Hybrid racing-car will be a feature of the stand (5610).

The latest CELOS now has 16 apps, including these five new ones: Pallet Changer, for simple handling of two or three; Service Agent, for an overview of all maintenance tasks on the machine, Tool Handling, to reduce tooling times; Job Scheduler, for machine-related job order planning; and Messenger, for immediate detection of downtimes. Additionally, DMG Mori has introduced a PC version of CELOS, which enables office-based use of its functions.

DMG Mori's CNC interface CELOS gets five new apps

Turning to machines and the 5-axis DMU 75 monoBLOCK has a swivel rotary table that allows simultaneous 5-axis machining of parts weighing up to 600 kg. It is equipped with the latest speedMASTER motor spindle with 20,000 rpm, 60-tool magazine, plus CELOS with a 21.5-in ERGOline panel and Siemens control.

For the 5-axis DMU 60 eVo Linear there’s a new optimised gantry design that features shortguide ways on the X- and Y-axis to ensure constant high rigidity, and also gives improved side access, even when automation is implemented. The swivel rotary table has been uprated to 400 kg, too. Rapid traverse rates on the Dynamic version reach 80 m/min, thanks to the linear drives, and the tool magazine has 30 pockets, 120 as an option.

The NHX 5000 second-generation horizontal machining centre is equipped with the latest 15,000 rpm, 30.7 kW speedMASTER spindle, and CELOS with 21.5-in ERGOline panel and MAPPS interface. This delivers high speed and stable high precision machining in a paperless environment.

This boasts optimised static and dynamic rigidity, and the distance between the spindle end face and the centre of the pallet is short, so machining using short tools even near the centre of the pallet is made possible. The optional B-axis includes DDM (Direct Drive Motor) and rapid traverse is 60 m/min with an acceleration of 1 g. (The NVX5080 vertical machining centre will also feature.)

For the upgraded NLX 2500 CNC lathe, increased reliability, accuracy, rigidity and operability through innovations such as thermal displacement control and a high rigidity bed are offered. The machine comes with a 10-in chuck and in three sizes - 500, 700 and 1,250 mm between centres.

The ultra-compact patented turn-mill spindle on the CTX beta 800 TC CNC lathe has an integrated ejecting cylinder and provides 120 Nm of torque in a length of just 350 mm. In comparison with common spindles, this provides 20% more torque with an increased work area of 170 mm. The machine has a 500 mm turning diameter and 850 mm turning length. Y-axis stroke is 200 mm and the ‘Direct Drive’ B-axis has a swivel range of 110°. Available with CELOS and optionally 11 technology cycles, programming time can be reduced by as much as 60%.

The NTX 1000 second generation 5-axis simultaneous turn-mill centre offers the “smallestfootprint in its class” at 10.4 m2, and there are six variations to choose from. It can handle parts 800 mm long by 430 mm diameter and features CELOS with either Siemens- or Fanuc-based ERGOline controls.

Offering combined laser deposition welding and 5-axis milling, the Lasertec 65 3D enables deposition and machining operations to be interspersed, enabling normally inaccessible areas to be accurately machined as the process continues.

Other machines will include: the second generation Ultrasonic 20 linear high precision 5-axis machining centre with CELOS and up to 60,000 rpm spindle; the ecoTurn 450 with new ± 60 mm Y-axis and only available with Operate 4.5 on Siemens; the ecoMill 800 V, which offers “the ultimate in entry-level milling” with 800 kg part capacity; plus the ecoMill 600 V and the ecoMill 1000 V, which can handle parts up to 600 kg and 1,000 kg respectively.

The stand highlight will be Porsche 919 Hybrid; DMG Mori has been the Premium Partner of the Porsche team in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) since 2014.
