Shopfloor networking and hardware specialist DLoG (UK), Oldbury, West Midlands has won a £200,000 order to supply and install a production data management and shopfloor data reporting system at Yorkshire-based Borg Warner Turbo Systems.

DLoG will supply 50 Industrial PCs (IPCs), which will be networked to metalcutting and assembly machines at the customer’s Bradford manufacturing site. The system’s principal features include controlling the transfer of production engineering data to the shopfloor, plus monitoring activity against a company-wide database of standard machining cycle and job time information. Once installed, the system will record the production status of each machine and the number of parts produced each shift, enabling it to produce detailed reports on machine uptime and downtime, OEE performance and the reasons for any scrapped work. In addition, the DLoG system will be enhanced to provide real time feedback to operators - not only allowing them to check that production targets are being maintained, but also providing them with operational information such as estimated batch completion times. The DLoG system will also integrate with Borg Warner’s existing ERP system and Standard Pro implementation, which maintains production timings and other standard information across the company’s manufacturing operations.
