Delcam to show PartMaker CAM at Midlands Manufacturing

1 min read

Delcam will show its recently-acquired PartMaker CAM range in the UK for the first time at the Midlands Manufacturing exhibition to be held at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, on 18 and 19 April.

PartMaker is the world’s leading software for the programming of multi-axis lathes with live tooling and CNC Swiss-type lathes. It is a knowledge-based CAM system, allowing it to provide substantial gains in programming efficiency by remembering the tools, material and process information necessary to machine individual part features. PartMaker therefore relieves the user from the need to re-enter the same feature information for subsequent parts. It also improves productivity by placing the emphasis on tool management functions, including allowing the simultaneous use of multiple tools on suitable equipment. PartMaker pioneered a Visual Programming Approach for programming multi-axis lathes with live tooling, a system for which the company holds two US patents. It makes extensive use of pictures to help the user describe tools, part features and machining data, and so is easy to learn and quick to use. For example, synchronisation of tools working on multiple spindles is achieved with only a few mouse clicks. The latest release, Version 8, features a wide range of improved functionality, including the introduction of the PartMaker Full Machine Simulation module. This allows the user to view a photo-realistic 3D model of the machine for which they are programming a part. It provides an accurate simulation of all the programmed strategies and so gives additional confidence that the program will run successfully on the machine tool.
