Delcam partners with CADENAS for free 3D CAD part catalogues

1 min read

Delcam has entered into a partnership with part catalogue provider CADENAS that will allow Delcam customers free access to more than 250 catalogues of standard parts and accessories as 3D CAD models.

Access to the CADENAS catalogues will enable Delcam users to incorporate CAD models of standard parts into their projects more quickly than if they had to create the designs themselves, and so will contribute to reduced costs and shorter lead times. Data from the CADENAS catalogues is available in the Parasolid XT format and so can be imported directly into Delcam's PowerSHAPE CAD software or the Delcam ToolMaker tooling design system without translation. Models can then be edited, if required, using the full range of solid and surface modelling functionality within the Delcam software. Access to the CADENAS catalogues will be of greatest benefit to customers designing injection mould tools, which typically include hundreds of standard components. While Delcam's ToolMaker software has always been supplied with a variety of supplier catalogues, adding access to the CADENAS catalogues will place many thousands of additional standard components at the user's disposal. Furthermore, because the CAD part catalogues are held on the Internet and are regularly updated by CADENAS staff, there is little chance that the designer will waste time by including obsolete parts within his design. Users of Delcam's PowerMILL, FeatureCAM and PartMaker CAM software will see smaller, but still significant benefits. They will be able to download models of machining accessories, such as clamps, that are needed for machining simulations and collision detection. While the number of items involved will be much smaller than for the mouldmaker, time will be saved in the same way that would otherwise be spent in modelling these components.
