Dedicated subcontract inspection and measurement facility at Hexagon, Telford

Hexagon Metrology UK has opened a new dedicated subcontract inspection and measurement facility at its head office in Telford. Previously, it was operated from a facility shared with other services at Telford.

PMM, reference and gantry machines feature and two new subcon inspection application engineers have been appointed. Dave Carter and Keith Moony have joined an already 10-strong team, which not only offers dimensional measurement and CMM inspection services, but also non-contact measurement, scanning and digitising tasks. In addition, the facility is NDA compliant and its calibration laboratory standard, temperature-controlled environment is said to be among the best in the country. "Inspection lead times are quicker and we can gather data more seamlessly and rapidly as our SPC database is now connected to all our machines," explains applications team leader Greg Holdsworth. "The creation of a dedicated unit with its own programming area, together with extra equipment and staff, signals Hexagon's ambition to further expand its subcontract business in the UK," he adds. A nationwide off-site contract inspection service is also available and provides portable measuring arms for standard parts and laser trackers for large volume measurement. The subcon facility is the latest phase in Hexagon's ongoing investment programme, which has seen new training and service centres opened at Telford and Chester in recent months.
