Dawson Shanahan chooses Citizen technology to underpin growth ambition

Leading specialist in precision engineering and cold-forming Dawson Shanahan has installed two more Citizen sliding-head machines, a L20-VIII and the new L32-VIII.

The new machines are part of an on-going programme of investment and expansion that will underpin Dawson Shanahan’s long-term goal to grow organically by at least 15% year on year. Key to that is the company’s export business to Europe, North America and the Far East, which currently accounts for around 80% of all orders.

Joint managing director Les Reeves says: “Our customers have always been impressed with the quality of output from our existing Citizen machine and we’ve been equally impressed with its reliability and precision. With these new Citizens, and further technology coming through later this year, we are well on the way to meet growing business demand.”

The Citizen L32-VIII sliding-headstock CNC automatic lathe is a 7-axis model with up to 30 tools mounted at any one time. The L20-VIII also offers increased flexibility with its up-to-37-tool capability. This model can switch between guide bushing type and non-guide bushing type.

With over 75 years’ experience, Dawson Shanahan is the leading global specialist in cold-forming and machining of high precision, customer-specified copper, aluminium, ferrous and assembled components.
