Danobat LG-400 grinding capabilities

Danobat will be highlighting the conventional and superabrasive grinding capabilities of the LG-400 external and internal grinding machine at MACH 2014 (Stand 5054, Hall 5).

The LG-400 is an intermediate model within the LG grinding machine range that allows parts with a maximum diameter of 300 mm to be machined with a maximum grinding length of 400 mm, while the top of the range model accepts parts of up to 300 mm in diameter and 600 mm in grindable length. The LG grinding machine range offers excellent results in the high precision machining of small parts, such as cutting tools, ultra-precision parts for the hydraulics industry, parts for the automotive sector and so on. Danobat offers turnkey solutions with various kinds of fully integrated loading and unloading. The LG-400 can be equipped with a robot and pallet loading/unloading system. With this and other automation that can be included in this model - gantry, conveyor, etc - much reduced part change times are achieved, typically between 2-6 seconds. Depending on customer need, it is possible to add a multi-wheel B-axis, equipped with grinding heads that allow the use of wheels of up to 500 mm by 80 mm, whether conventional, superabrasive or a combination of both technologies, thus increasing production capacity and improving the final quality of the parts. Synchronised tailstock, moving window (facing the wheel) and different types of diamond dressing (radius, crush, wheel) are further options. Slides are driven by linear motors fitted on preloaded bearings, and the wheelhead by means of a cooled electro-spindle that allows a large range of peripheral speeds with maximum torque, covering the range necessary for both conventional abrasive (45 m/s) and superabrasives (20 to 120 m/s). These drive systems, together with a bed manufactured from natural granite and able to absorb vibrations, give the whole machine the rigidity and stability necessary for achieving highest precision.
