Citizen Machinery UK’s new salesman's experience pays off fast for customers

Citizen Machinery UK’s Warren Garratt, recently appointed as sales engineer following almost five years in applications, has already helped a customer slash cycle times on a Miyano BNE-51MSY mill-turn centre, undercutting a major competitor by demonstrating cycle time savings of some 100 seconds.

Says sales director Darren Wilkins: “Warren has built-up an excellent track record in turning, from being an apprentice then progressing through applications, senior programming and production engineering. Prior to joining Citizen, he held a position as works manager for a Midlands subcontract company.”

Garrett’s appointment follows reorganisation of Citizen Machinery UK’s sales operation, which has seen sales areas increased from four to five, with him taking over the West Midlands and North Wales. This reorganisation is as a result of latest machine introductions that have increased both the Citizen CNC sliding-head and Miyano fixed head mill-turn centre ranges, as well as increased market activity, especially since the MACH 2016 exhibition in April.

The new salesman’s turning experience over the last 22 years has covered multi-axis fixed-head, sliding-head, as well as cam-driven machines, while he has been involved with most production-related industry sectors. Garrett has machined almost all material types and rarely comes across features on a workpiece that he has not programmed, tooled-up or been involved in problem solving. He has even participated in the success of a major research and development project for one of the world’s leading prestige automotive groups.

“Over the years, I have worked across all the fixed-head and sliding-head machines that could be competitive to Citizen and Miyano, and I feel this will prove invaluable in helping our customers improve performance, increase efficiency and, critically, lower their ‘cost-per-part’ produced,” he concludes.
