CGTech/Zoller partnership speeds 3D tool data entry to VERICUT

Entering 3D tool models into CGTech's VERICUT is to be made easier, following a partnership agreement between CNC program simulation specialist CGTech and Zoller, a pre-setting, tool measuring and tool management expert.

"The Zoller vision system provides a direct link between the pre-setter and VERICUT," explains John Reed, managing director, CGTech UK. "Our mutual customers will benefit from this partnership by having the ability to scan accurate 3D models of tool assemblies, which subsequently can be easily transferred to VERICUT in a variety of CAD file formats. The interface between the tool pre-setter and the software was demonstrated at the recent MACH 2012 exhibition on the stand of the company's UK agent, Fenn Tool." VERICUT simulates CNC machining from post processed G-code output to identify errors in the NC programs, such as collisions, over-travel, gouges and so on. Using VERICUT, manufacturers can verify the accuracy of the program before it is transferred to the machine tool, reducing or eliminating the need for the time-consuming manual prove-out process and minimising material costs. VERICUT also improves machining efficiency by efficiently optimising cutting speeds. The Zoller product portfolio covers all application areas of tool presetting, measuring, inspection and management. With the TMS (Tool Management Solutions), Zoller offers software that offers potential savings through better organisation. "Zoller software is fully automatic and precise to the micron," says Alexander Zoller, president, Zoller Inc. "With a push of a button; the pre-setter will scan the tool, as built on the shopfloor, eliminating inaccuracy and the need to manually model tools. Creating a VERICUT tool library has never been easier."
