Bystronic reveals record sales for May

Bystronic reports that May 2014 was its best ever month for order intake in the UK, at just short of £ 7 million.

Eight out of the 10 orders for laser cutting machines were for machines with fibre lasers and two were for those with CO2 laser sources. David Larcombe, managing director of Bystronic UK, says there is a clear demand for fibre lasers, adding: "For speed when cutting all materials, but especially thinner gauges, our fibre technology is proving itself in the market." Orders were received from all areas of industry, from job shops to yellow goods manufacturers to architecture. Other products in Bystronic's CNC portfolio were in demand too, including water jet cutters and press brakes (see our feature on profiling in the May 2014 issue of Machinery). Mr Larcombe concludes: "Our recent sales success is yet another sign that the UK is pulling strongly out of recession and that manufacturing continues to lead the way. "Particularly pleasing was the range of sectors represented and of machine types ordered, indicating that the recovery is broadly based."
