Switzerland headquartered profiling and bending specialist Bystronic saw revenue growth of 11 per cent in the first eight months of 2005, with the acquisition of Pullmax, Leeds last year playing its part, reveals parent Conzetta Group, Zurich.
Bystronic is focused on 2D laser cutting, waterjet cutting and bending (Hämmerle press brakes), with lasers accounting for 60 per cent of the business. The Niederönz, Switzerland-based firm develops key technologies of laser sources, water pumps, CNC and drives, application software and handling and automation.
The company boasts 10 per cent of its Niederönz employees involved in the development of products and services. Last year the company unveiled a 6 kW laser source, while it also developed the dynamic Direct Helical Motor (DHM) drive for its Byspeed laser profiler, the “most dynamic 2D machine in the world” having 3 G acceleration over the full envelope.
Managing director Christopher Schüpbach (pictured) said recently that the company will remain focused on 2D laser profiling: “This is the biggest market and we still see opportunity in it.” But he did not rule out 3D developments in the future.
Apart from technology, machine reliability and customer support are considered pivotal, especially for laser profilers, many of which are used on multiple shifts and are key machines. And last month the company rolled out its remote diagnostics service.
