Blasting and cleaning advice for medical part makers

Specialist finishing manufacturer Guyson International has produced two new finishing newsletters, aimed at component manufacturers in the medical sector.

One covers the company's blast finishing products and the other, spray wash and ultrasonic cleaning products. The surface preparation and treatment newsletter introduces the topic of maintaining surface topographic control as being a key attribute of medical devices and instruments in their functional and cosmetic appearance. It further explains how a consistent surface finish, measured typically, in amplitude parameters like Ra or Rz is required to be maintained within specific statistical control limits to achieve consistency of surface finish. Relevant Guyson products are then detailed. In the medical cleaning newsletter, the company introduces its 'Microclean' multi-stage ultrasonic aqueous wash systems which is production proven for a range of applications including prosthetic implants manufactured in stainless steel, titanium or other alloys and including built in Nitric acid passivation with automatic top-up. This system is for high volume manufacturers, but smaller precision cleaning and passivation systems are also available for those manufacturers with lower volumes. Other products are also showcased. Both newsletters are supplied in either PDF or hard copy formats from the Guyson Customer Service Department.
