Berkeley Myles Solutions sees much progress with ProgressPlus

Production control software author Berkeley Myles Solutions generated sales of around £1.3 million in its current, as yet unfinished, financial year, an 18% rise on the previous year.

The company supplies its ProgressPlus production control software to small and medium-sized manufacturing companies, with all growth coming from within the UK and Ireland.

Tony MacBride, who set up the Glasgow-based business in 1996, says the sales are "excellent figures in a business environment that continues to challenge".

Putting the sales into context, he adds: "We had 23 sales in 2013 and in the last quarter we achieved 15. This means ProgressPlus user numbers have increased to over 2,500 across the UK and Ireland.

"Last year, turnover was around £1 million and we set a target to reach £2 million in five years. This year, the business has already generated £1.3 million and we are not even at our year end until June."

In explaining this success, MacBride offers that it is down to a number of factors. "With past problems in the economy, it is not the case that everybody stopped spending money, but people are more careful and want to be sure they are getting value for money. I believe businesses like ours will continue to expand, as we are able to help manufacturers drive efficiency and save money."

The company's production control software automates and integrates the management of shopfloor production and administrative processes.

Berkeley Myles Solutions plans to expand with at least one member of staff a year, having employed a marketing manager last year and recruiting an account manager this year.
