The world’s most powerful servo press featuring two slides having a combined stamping force of more than 45,000 kN (5,000 US tons) is soon to be shipped by Arisa to multi-national automotive stamping giant Gestamp Automacion in Bielefeld, Germany.

With die space of more than 9 m2, the Arisa press is powered by six Siemens servo motors featuring a state-of-the-art energy management system. From the foundation to the crown, 16-m high press will be shipped via in excess of 40 truckloads.

The press will feature an Arisa-designed transfer mechanism, allowing high tensile material to travel through the die space at high production rates while maintaining required part tolerances. In addition, the Arisa turnkey system will include fully integrated controls, production software and automated quick die-changing units.

Says Arisa general manager Javier Martínez-Aldama: “We’re focused on helping Gestamp solve their challenges and meet their production goals. Gestamp has a leading industry reputation for delivering quality parts to their customers and it is important that our solution not only continues that quality level, but allows them to increase their opportunity for success.”

In addition to this press, Arisa has received an order for a 40,000 kN (4,500 ton) mechanical transfer press from a Michigan stamping plant. Delivery will support a production start-up of early 2018.

Based in Logroño, Spain, Arisa was acquired by Nidec Minster in 2015, allowing the company to increase its global footprint and diversify its product offering.

Rick Schwartz, vice president of Nidec Minster’s machinery and automation divisions, says that Minster and Arisa, along with Nidec Group partner Kyori, are combining their worldwide manufacturing resources to offer customers a wide selection of metalforming solutions, while limiting lead times and shipping expenses.
He says: “It is our intention to manufacture all products on a global basis. We have plans to produce Arisa presses at our Minster, Ohio, facility and we are expanding our capabilities around the world to meet the exciting challenges of a customer base that has no boundaries.”

In addition to manufacturing locations in Ohio, Spain and Pinghu in China, Nidec Minster maintains customer service centres with common repair parts in stock, technical support staff and remanufacturing capabilities in Halbelch, Germany; Querétaro, Mexico; and Ningbo, China.
