Aberlink-Russia trade underpinned by standards qualification

To help ensure high levels of sales in Russia, UK CMM and vision system developer Aberlink recently hosted a delegation from the D.I. Mendeleev All-Russian Institute for Metrology (VNIIM).

CMMs can only be sold in Russia if they are tested and found to be within their declared accuracy statement, then listed on the State Register. The VNIIM is the successor of the Main Chamber of Measures and Weights, which was one of the oldest metrological institutions in the world, in fact. Aberlink welcomed Andrey Moskalev and Zoia Fomkina from the VNIIM. Following two days of rigorous testing, Aberlink's Zenith Too CMMs were confirmed as performing well within their accuracy statement. Confirmation was given that the globally popular range would be included on the State Register and that Aberlink's Russian distributor, Sonatec, could proceed with placing orders to fulfil strong demand. Aberlink business development manager Chris Davies said: "Since the launch of our first ground-breaking coordinate measuring machine, Aberlink has earned a global reputation for producing a range of affordable CMMs and optical measuring systems. Today, our products are renowned internationally for quality, accuracy, robustness, speed and ease of use. "Chosen by large and small companies throughout the world, our comprehensive product range is popular within demanding market sectors such as, aerospace, automotive/autosport, electronics, oil and medical industries. "Aberlink's ever increasing global reach means that we currently export a remarkable 81% of our output from our Stroud, Gloucestershire-based design and manufacturing facility. As our products are now sold into virtually every country throughout the industrialised world, we ensure that our extensive network of overseas agents are able to provide levels of service and training to match the high quality of our products and that we are able to satisfy all local certification criteria. "As we have several exciting new product launches planned for 2014, further VNIIM visits are planned to ensure certification and inclusion on the Russian State Register." Given the name of the popular Aberlink CMM and that of his favourite St Petersburg football team (F.C. Zenit), to the amusement of his hosts, Andrey Moskalev (right) adorned the Aberlink CMM in his club's colours. he is pictured with Zoia Fomkina
