ABB will show new robot at MACH

1 min read

Expect to see some exciting demonstrations on ABB's stand as the company shows off its newest IRB6700 robot.

It is a seventh generation robot that can handle heavier payloads up to 235kg and offers a 15% reduction in power consumption and longer service intervals. The payload will be increased to 300 kg as new variants are added over the next 18 months. The robot will be easier to program and simulate, thanks to 'Lean ID', which integrates the most exposed cables into the robot and predicts cable movements. This in turn means there is less wear and tear, helping to reduce the total cost of ownership by 20%. ABB will also show its IRB 2600 and IRB 140 robots and how they can work together on a common work object. To do this, the company has created MultiMove, which allows operators to control up to four robots from just one IRC5 controller. The stand will also feature a welding cell with an IRB 1600 robot. This robot has built-in second generations of TrueMove and QuickMove - serving to show the improvements in path accuracy and cycle time that can be achieved. Visitors will also be able to try their hand at playing against a robotic opponent in a special retro games cell. ABB will be on Stand 5771 in Hall 5 at MACH 2014 (Birmingham NEC, 7-11 April).
