10-year warranty for Sodick linear motor machines

Sodick is now offering a 10-year machine accuracy warranty for its linear-motor-driven EDM machines.

Sodick introduced the first linear-motor-driven die-sink EDM and wire-cut EDM units in 1998, since which time it has installed over 15,000 units at users’ sites. Initial machine accuracy has been maintained for these eight years and Sodick’s 10-year linear-motor drive positioning warranty – which the company believes to be the longest such warranty in machine tool history – provides customers with even greater confidence in their EDM investment. Conventional ballscrew driven machines can lose their original accuracy in a matter of three to five years, due to ballscrew wear. To maintain the original level of accuracy the ballscrews therefore need to be replaced, which can be expensive. Today, industry requires higher-speed and higher-precision manufacturing, so machines must be operated ever-faster, resulting in more rapid ballscrew wear and therefore more frequent ballscrew replacement.
