Leading UK & Ireland machine tools supplier Mills CNC is having a record year to date. We caught up with CEO Tony Dale to hear his thoughts on how business is and what trends the company is seeing

Mills CNC is at the forefront of the machine tools market in the UK & Ireland, as the exclusive distributor of premium Doosan (now DN Solutions) machines and provider of automation solutions.

The company’s Leamington Spa Technology Campus encompasses a range of services and operations, from where it supplies 35-plus machine tools a month, from the 400 or so machine tools in the DN Solutions range.

At the IMTS trade show in Chicago in September, new machine tools will be launched and there are plans for new machines across all ranges including 5-axis.

Among the best-sellers at Mills CNC, are the Doosan Lynx 2100 series lathes and Doosan Puma series machines, along with the MX and SMX range of mill-turn multi-tasking CNC machines, while there is strong demand for its SYNERGi robots and Doosan collaborative robots (cobots).

Speaking to Machinery, Mills CNC CEO Tony Dale, is buoyant about the machine tools business and the state of UK manufacturing. “We are having our most successful year of orders ever so far in 2022 by some way. Last year we returned to pre-Covid levels, and we are now 10-15% up on pre-Covid levels and so far, the year is going exceptionally well,” he explains.

“MACH, was a great catalyst for that and I have not spoken to anyone that did not think that MACH wasn’t a positive event. For us, we had a very prominent stand at the show, and had a lot of positive comments, and did good business.”
