Walther’s Trowalplast HDC grinding media now available from Wheelabrator

With its plastic grinding media, Trowalplast HDC, Walther Trowal offers a product that is suitable for the grinding and surface smoothing of metal workpieces, especially die castings

Available in the UK from Wheelabrator, the high density and sharp edges of the abrasive material contribute to shorter process times along with high levels of surface finish at a low wear rate, says the company.

The media consists of a plastic carrier filled with zirconium silicate, thus combining the advantages of lightweight plastic media with the high density of the abrasive filler material. This combination yields metal removal rates that are said to be comparable with ceramic media, but without chipping.

HDC can be used in all types of mass finishing equipment, from centrifugal disk finishing machines, through to linear continuous feed vibratory systems. Initially, HDC will be offered as 8 mm cones.
