Record order book for Atkin Automation

Atkin Automation, Thetford, Norfolk reports a record order book, winning business of over £1.3 million in June alone.

Prominent in its June success is an order from Eden Industries (UK) for an automated production line to manufacture back panels for use in supermarket shelving. The production line will be entirely UK designed and manufactured and will comprise a 1,000 kg decoiler feeding a run of three notching units; three Atkin BFP-80 hydraulic presses; a shear; two sets of benders and an end bender; plus an automatic pick-and-place unit to remove surplus blanks from the line and wich are replaced during coil changes to give almost 100 per cent line utilisation. The line can cmplete 10 panels/minute from mild, stainless or coated steel of thickness from 0.5 mm to 1.3 mm and up to 600 mm wide. The longest panel formed is 1,350 mm.
