Fanuc Robocut wire-cut EDM production reaches 30,000 unit milestone

Japan’s Fanuc has now produced 30,000 Robocut wire-cut electric discharge machines (EDMs), production of which started in 1975.

Throughout that time, Fanuc has enhanced the speed and precision of these machines, so as to satisfy the requirements of increased precision in both mouldmaking and parts machining.

Specifically, auto wire feeding functions and collaboration with Fanuc robots have opened up many possibilities for automated systems that enable continuous unmanned operation, the company adds in a brief announcement of the milestone.

Fanuc underlines that it will continue to develop this range as “a high-value-added product, attuned to the needs of manufacturing”.

Earlier this year, the company unveiled an addition to the ‘ɑ-CiB’ range, the α-C800iB, which boasts Z-axis travel of 510 mm. This joins two other models, the 400 and 600 units.
