YMT Technologies Tooling Division offers OMG milling, drilling and tapping angle-head range

YMT Technologies Tooling Division's now offers the O.M.G. range of milling, drilling and tapping angle-heads. YMT will stock the most popular O.M.G. products at Yeovil.

Based in Cavriago, North West of Bolonga, Italy, O.M.G. has over five decades' experience manufacturing ancillaries to increase manufacturers' productivity, taking in angle-heads, spindle speeders, revolving turret and multi-spindle heads, as well as bespoke, application-specific solutions. One of the most popular products is the TA Series of angle-heads, whose bodies are machined from a solid steel billet, for rigidity, and are Niploy (chemical nickel plating) treated and anti-corrosion coated for extended service in harsh environments. The ground spiral bevel transfer Gleason gears are fitted with class ABEC7 or 9 precision taper roller bearing for smooth operation, even under heavy cutting loads. Available in 25 sizes for drilling up to 26 mm diameter, tapers available include BT, SK, HSK, CAT, Capto and KM. A wide variety of tool holding methods are also supported, with tool shank fixing including ER collets, Weldon whistle-notch, HSK, Coromant Capto and Komet. All angle heads are supplied with coolant channels that feed from the torque arm to nozzles next to the tool. Through-tool coolant can be specified via the torque arm up to 10 bar, or, with high pressure seals fitted, up to 70 bar through the angle-head. YMT Technologies' tooling and equipment manager, Jason Short, explains: "With a 90° drive, the TA Series has a 1:1 input/output ratio up to 10,000 rpm. The slim-line TAR range provides exceptional access to difficult to machine areas, often negating the need to remove or re-orientate the component from/on the machine tool and thereby reducing expensive machining time. They are ideal for drilling and tapping aerospace and oil/gas/petrochemical parts such as valves, fluid control manifolds, nacelles and so on." For even more flexibility O.M.G. offers the TAV range of variable angle-heads. Available in five sizes for drilling up to 20 mm diameter, the tool can be adjusted a total of 180° +/- 90° of the spindle centreline.
