WNT (UK)’s TX series grooving inserts boast three ground edges plus toolholder options

TX series grooving inserts from WNT (UK) provide three cutting edges instead of the more traditional double-ended varieties. Their positive and ground cutting geometries also produce a very soft cutting action with low cutting forces. The grinding creates an extremely sharp edge which helps optimise cutting performance and surface finish, and extends tool life.

The design of the inserts and toolholders makes them suitable for range of applications, including parting, grooving, face grooving and light turning. Toolholders can have either 45º or 90º approaches with shank sizes ranging from 12 to 32 mm square. TX inserts are available in a range of widths from 0.5 mm through to 5.15 mm, including a range dedicated to circlip grooves complying to DIN471/472. The inserts' performance is enhanced by CWX 500 TiAlN multi-layer coating that has been already successfully used on the TX series side and face milling cutters. The coating works extremely well with the fine grain carbide substrate, says WNT, and provides high thermal and chemical stability, low coefficient of friction, while at the same time being suitable for universal application on most materials and under dry machining conditions.
